Message from the Dean

Dean Bachas Small

January 13, 2025

Dear College faculty and staff,

Happy New Year, and welcome to the Spring 2025 semester!

As we start this historic centennial year, I would like to  reaffirm the College’s commitment to our values of inclusiveness, openness, and community. I look forward to working together to make 2025 another successful and productive year. We have many exciting events happening over the coming months, including the opening of the new theatre building, a visit by U.S. Poet Laureate Ada Limón, the 75th anniversary of the Lowe Art Museum, and the celebration of the 100th anniversary of both the College and the University.

Please keep an eye out for information on centennial events so you can join me in commemorating our rich history. We are also asking faculty and staff to submit favorite photos of their time at the College for our centennial celebration  materials. If you would like to share a photo, please send it to casmagazine@miami.edu by January 27.

As mentioned in my previous email, Senior Associate Dean Caleb Everett will be leaving the University on March 1, 2025, for a new opportunity. I’m pleased to announce that Chantel Acevedo, who is serving as Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for the 2024-2025 academic year, has agreed to continue in this role for another two years. Additionally, Jennifer Ferriss-Hill will resume her position as Senior Associate Dean on March 1.

As always, I am inspired by your dedication and your support for our students and each other. Thank you for everything you do to move our College forward.

Best wishes for a great semester,

Leonidas Bachas
