Chrissy Arce, Associate Professor of Modern Languages & Literatures, received a MLA’s Katherine Singer Kovacs Prize for her book, Mexico’s Nobodies: The Cultural Legacy of the Soldadera and Afro-Mexican Women; Honorable Mention for the Elli Köngäs-Maranda Professional Prize from the American Folklore Society.
Robin Bachin, Charlton W. Tebeau Associate Professor of History and Assistant Provost for Civic & Community Engagement, received an Impact Award for Excellence in Community Development for LAND: Land Access for Neighborhood Development; Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award; Award of Excellence and Best Practice Award, from the Florida Gold Coast Chapter of the American Planning Association.
Merike Blofield, Director of Gender & Sexuality Studies and Associate Professor of Political Science, recieved the Women's Commission May A. Brunson Award. This award was named in honor of the University's second Dean of Women and is given to the person within the University community who most contributes to improving the status of women on campus.
Berit Brogaard, Professor of Phillosophy, received an A&S Cooper Fellow Award.
Robert Stephen Cantrell, Chair and Professor of Mathematics, received an A&S Cooper Fellow Award.
José Cardoso da Silva, Professor of Geography, received the 2019 American Ornithological Society (AOS) Ralph W. Schreiber Conservation Award recognizing important contributions in the areas of conservation, restoration, and preservation of bird ecosystems around the globe.

Stephen Halsey, Associate Professor of History, received a Fellowship from the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society, Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich; Taiwan Fellowship from the National Central Library and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Yader Lanuza, Assistant Professor of Sociology, was selected as a 2019 National Academy of Education (NAEd)/Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow.

Mary Lindemann, Professor and Chair of History, was elected president of the American Historical Association (AHA) for a term beginning in January 2020.

Alejandro Portes, Professor of Sociology, received Spain’s highest honor, the 2019 Princess of Asturias Award in the Social Sciences, for his significant contributions to the study of international migration.
Jessica Rosenberg, Assistant Professor of English, received an A&S Scholarly & Creative Activities Recognition Award and a Barbara Thom Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Huntington Library, Pasadena, CA for 2018-2019.
Steven Safren, Professor of Psychology, received an A&S Cooper Fellow Award and funding from NIH to establish the University of Miami Center for HIV and Research in Mental Health—CHARM—with the Miller School of Medicine’s Daniel Feaster and Deborah Jones Weiss.
